Every sport thrives, especially when there are healthy number of Sponsors to leverage the sport to bigger heights. Among the list of sponsors for Bangalore racing, Dr. P. Dayanand Pai’s Century Real Estate, has supported the BTC to the hilt.

Dr P. Dayananda Pai is the founder of Century Real Estate, established in 1973. The real estate giants, according to the majority, are the “last word” in the Realty Industry in Bangalore with a land bank of over 3000 acres in the city. A true visionary, Dr Pai is gifted with an intuitive sense for the real estate business which has enabled him to identify opportunities and develop them into successful projects.

With a sound educational background, Dr Pai, after gave up a lucrative career in the manufacturing sector to venture into real estate in 1973. Ever since, Century Real Estate has grown from an entrepreneurial venture, to a top-of-the-line corporate Dr Dayananda Pai is also one of the founders of the prestigious VidyaSagar and VidyaShilp schools. He is also a Director is several other companies engaged in the Hospitality, Education and Healthcare sectors. He is a recipient of several awards not only in recognition of his work in the field of Real Estate and Construction, (for which he was honoured with the prestigious Karnataka Udyog Award in 1990), but also for his humanitarian and philanthropic endeavours. He has been accorded an honorary doctorate by the Mangalore University in 2010.

Within an exterior of astute & enterprising business acumen, Dr Pai possesses a caring heart that reaches out to those that are not too privileged in society. He has been sponsoring the entire education expenses of nearly 350-400 economically challenged students studying in government funded schools. Dr Pai is also providing free mid-day meals to almost 2000 poor children, which he plans to hike it up to 5000 needy children soon. He is providing honorarium to many retired sportspersons, stage artists as well, the list of beneficiaries is seamless.

Being a keen sports person, Dr Pai is an ardent follower of horseracing. Having owned several top class horses and a knowledgeable ‘horseman’ himself, he has given a lot more to the sport than received. On the occasion of the press conference held at the BTC and the ‘Post Position Draw’ for the P.Dayanand Pai & P.Satish Pai Bangalore Winter Million, scheduled for 16th February 2013, Dr Pai addressed a packed audience which was well represented by both the print and electronic media.

Dr.Pai gave a jist of his future plans while talking to the media. “Horse racing is one of my passions dear to my heart. It is as much a sport to be enjoyed by the masses as it is a lifestyle sport. Personally I would like to see the race course stay where it has been for the last several decades. It breathes fresh air to the city of Bangalore which is getting congested. I would like to see racing thrive in Bangalore in particular. We are planning a lot, in the days to come for Bangalore racing, such as Night Racing, which in my opinion is the future. It would also be nice to bring in carnival type of entertaining racing weekends. It makes me happier when our Bangalore horses excel particularly at other centres”.

He thoughtfully congratulated Mr. Satish Narredu trainer of Super Storm and his owners for making Bangaloreans proud by winning the Indian Derby in Mumbai on the 3rd of February 2013. He also congratulated Irfan Ghatala, trainer of Wind Stream the runner up, for making it 1-2 for Bangalore, in the prestigious race.

The sponsorship of the P.Dayanand Pai and P.Satish Pai Bangalore Winter Million started in the winter of 2007-08. Last year it could not be held as the races got cancelled. This is the fifth running of the P.Dayanand Pai & P.Satish Pai Bangalore Winter Million.

He categorically assured that the sponsorship would increase from the next year and he was looking at Classic races like the Winter Derby at Bangalore. “The Century Group is definitely looking to feature and sponsor an event on the lines of the Poonawalla Multi Million and the effort will also be on to put the Bangalore Winter Derby on par with the other Derbies staged at other centers” said Dr.Pai.

He ended the meet by wishing the Bangalore contingent the very best for the Indian Turf Invitation Cup week at Kolkata to held during the first weekend of March 2013.
