Trainer S Padmanabhan leading Baracchus (A Sandesh Up), winner of The Squanderer Trophy

After a couple of below par efforts last week, leading pro Sandesh came into his own recording a nourishing double to the delight of his followers of form on Saturday. The top gun packed punch on the lesser fancied Baracchus from Padmanabhan’s yard to score in the Squanderer Trophy, the plum event, snuffing out the challenge of Speed Hawk close home. Rafa did well to finish third ahead of Michaela while the public choice Integrated disappointed most.

Oasis Breeze and As Times Goes By were fancied most in the Royal Tern Plate but both struggled to make an impression and it was the Kolkata challenger Multiple who had pleased most in the morning trials who reigned supreme in  the hands of Sandesh. As Time Goes By gained the runner-up spot ahead of the Rehanullah schooled Highland Wind who after this benefit of a run should earn his winning bracket when next saddled.

Gregory Sandhu-trained Revelnation who failed to justify favouritism last time out made amends edging out the Ghatala ward Gypsy at the shadow of the winning post in the H B Gundappa Gowda Memorial Cup. El Fenix got the better of Force Ensign to get the third place. Tax Free raced up with the field behind Gypsy before running out of steam in the final furlong.

Prithviraj-trained Regal Music who pulled off a coup last time provided an encore running away with the upper division of the Tudor Jet Plate run over a sprint.  Regal Music shot to the front and kicked clear approaching the distance post while sending a signal that this Prithviraj ward is ready to complete a hat-trick of wins when next saddled.

The big made Lochinvar from Kolkata showed a reversal of form when he finished aggressively to win the  Bold Gesture Plate in convincing fashion. Lochinvar chased Ninon well into the straight and got past the front-runner inside the final 100 yards despite shying away under the strong use of the whip by jockey Srinath. Satinette who failed to hold a forward position, finished on well to take the third place.

Arizona looked set to provide newly licensed trainer Parvati Byramji with her first win but the filly went down close home in the Noble Princess Plate to the ten to one shot Aine. Noble Splendor was third ahead of Air Of Distinction who garnered good support in the final moments after the favourite Raw Gold was withdrawn. During the paddock parade the public choice violently reared up, throwing off jockey Suraj Narredu. The jockey suffered a shoulder injury but luckily for Suraj the X-Ray showed no fracture.
