Trainer Darius Byramji receiving The Deccan Colts Championship Stakes (Gr.3) from Mr R Surender Reddy Chairman of HRC

Darius Byramji trained Prevalent Force (Multidimentional-Prevalence / Usha Stud) succeeded in getting the verdict in its favour in the Stewards room after finishing second to Tutankhamun on the track, in the Deccan Colts Championship Stakes (GR.3) at Hyderabad. Tutankhamun ridden by Suraj Narredu was the original winner on the track beating Prevalent Force by a slender margin. Tutankhamen had run a bit erratic inside the last 300 metres while moving up from behind thereby causing interference to Prevalent Force. Jockey Y.S. Srinath took an objection against the winner and the Stewards after viewing the replay rightly decided to uphold the claim and reverse the order. Another objection by the fourth placed Perfect Star against the third placed Timeless was overruled.

Animal King made the early running, brought the field of eleven into view on the straight and started to weaken. Timeless challenged by Perfect Star surged ahead with 300 metres left from the finish. Tutankhamun and Prevalent Force who were with the back bunch till the top of the straight began to get stronger from the outside and both rushed to the front together. Tutankhamun ran a bit erratic and the progress of Prevalent Force was hampered considerably. Despite the interference Prevalent Force was ridden hard by Srinath and the son of Multidimensional bridged the gap approaching the winning post and lost out narrowly. The reversal of the original placing enabled Prevalent Force to stay unbeaten in the last three starts.

In another close finish on the day, Ananta Vatsalya trained Amorous White (Stern Opinion-Adios Meadowlake) was ridden to victory by R.J. Hannam  in a ‘no whip race’, the Original Vel Mrs. Radha Balasubramani Gold Cup. The grey shot to the front from the inner most draw as the gates opened and started to call the shots. Dancing Leaf chased the leader right from the start and was there in second till passing the distance marker. Awesome Approach racing in seventh as they turned for home began to cover ground and came up threateningly close but fell short by a head at the wire. Mirfield and Vallee Secrete also covered some ground to take the third and fourth spot respectively.

Veteran Jockey R.J. Hannam continued to strike, piloting Cash For Rank and Mandy to victory for trainer L.V.R. Deshmukh. Mandy (Varenar-Si Gentille) stretched out well to win the Red Satin Plate. City Of Pearls grabbed the lead inside the last 300 metres but started to drift out of the straight course. Mandy was on the outside of City Of Pearls and despite the outward drift Hannam rode hard to get his mount surge ahead. Negress Pear came in with a late dash from the inside but Mandy and Hannam were safely home by half a length. Sweet March finished fourth behind City Of Pearls.

Hannam had it much easier in the division I of the Star Haven Plate. Cash For Rank (Varenar-Deeleecious) that is in rousing form this monsoon earned its third win from four starts in the season. Settled in third in the for the first two furlongs, Cash For Rank showed eagerness and stretched to the front. Going easy on the straight Cash For Rank kicked on to justify the short price. Golden Xanthus, Blaze Of Glory and Naamdhari filled the frame in that order.

R.H. Sequeira trained Western Express (C P west-Lizzie Borden) prevailed over the favourite Strengthandbeauty in the lower division. Hunter’s Pride stepped on the throttle and wenr on a start to finish bid. Strengthandbeauty and Western Express raced together behind the leader. Once on the straight Western Express was pressed hard and the 6 years old gelding surged ahead inside the last 100 metres. Strengthandbeauty came with a strong challenge towards the closing stages but fell short by a head. Hunter’s Pride stayed on in third from Ice Crystal.

D. Netto trained Bayrd (Ace-Sonic Symphony) scred an encore in an impressive fashion in the Con Amore Cup. The youngster rallied in fourth right from the start and made a swift move to get to the front before approaching the final bend. Once on the straight Bayrd drew away from the rest to increase the margin of victory. Valee Tiger and Secret Art finished second and third respectively, in a close finish.

Ananta Vatsalya trained Golden Joy (Hurricane Centre-Vice) that had remained a maiden from 25 starts had run into a suggestive second in the last start and improved on that performance to register a first win in the Red Rufus Plate by a lengethening margin. Chasing the leader Wild Heart till into the home stretch Golden Joy surged ahead without any fuss and kicked clear. Wild Heart stayed on in second with the rest followed by the favourite Divine Heights and In Command.
